Chelsea Alexandria Williams, an activist in her community is a rising visual artist from the Good Life City of Albany, Georgia. She received her bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts at the Unsinkable Albany State University. Williams’ artwork, more specifically, her photography reflects her experiences as she navigates society.  Rooted in Black American culture, African Symbolism, Ancestral Veneration and Isese  L’agba Ifa she incorporates rich shadows, tight angles, and intricate  symbolism that visually narrates stories of healing through trauma,  self-actualization, and the preservation of identity through mental  illness and spiritual alignment. While attending Albany State University she was able to develop a unique perspective in life that she cultivates through the lens of her camera to bring those visions to fruition. Her perspective stems from her experience as a Black Woman navigating in American society with her roots by way of her connection to Orun (Heaven) and her relationship with her Egungun (Collective Ancestors). Williams with her pieces creates a space where she can venerate her ancestors while making space for those to receive her spiritual experiences while simultaneously invoking the viewers own temporary spiritual transcendence. The space is transformed from viewership to a ritual space where the ancestors and Orisas venerated and celebrated and becomes an act of not only spiritual revolution and reclamation but a celebration of gratitude, and remembrance.
